Funeral Flower Ideas: A Gentle Guide
Choosing flowers for a funeral is one more decision at a time when you have a great deal to think about. This guide is here to make it a little easier, with simple funeral flower ideas, what to write on the card and how much time to allow.
Choosing a tribute
There’s no right or wrong choice. Many families start with the person: a colour they always wore, a flower from their garden, or simply what feels right. These funeral flower arrangement ideas may help.
Casket sprays
A spray rests on the coffin during the service and is usually chosen by the closest family. Our casket sprays start from £95, and most designs come in more than one length. Your funeral director can tell you which size suits the coffin.
Letter tributes
Letters spell out MUM, DAD, NAN or a name, and are often placed beside the coffin in the hearse. Single letters are £26 each, and MUM and DAD tributes are £78. See our letter tributes.
Hearts, wreaths and posies
Hearts and wreaths are lovely from a partner, children or close friends. Our open heart wreath is £78 and our photo frame wreath, which holds a favourite picture, is £75. Funeral wreath ideas don’t need to be traditional: a wreath in their football team’s colours or their favourite shade can say a great deal.
Funeral flower ideas for a man
Many families choose deep blues, greens and whites, thistles or a simple spray of red roses. Our white and blue thistle casket spray and our red, blue and gold tribute are two ideas to start with.

Something personal
If you have an idea in mind, send Claire a photo or a few words. She replies within 24 hours.
How long to allow
Every funeral tribute is handmade to order within 7 working days. If the funeral is sooner, please call Claire on 01209 206259 or WhatsApp 07718 625997 before you order, and she’ll tell you what’s possible.
What to write on the card
A few words are enough. Use their name or what you called them, and sign it the way you always would. If you’re wondering what to write on a funeral wreath card, here are some ideas:
- Forever in our hearts.
- Always loved, never forgotten.
- To the best mum in the world. We’ll miss you every day.
- Dad, thank you for everything. Love always.
- Sleep peacefully, Nan. All our love.
- Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
- In loving memory of a dear friend.
- Until we meet again.
- Thank you for so many happy memories.
- With deepest sympathy, from all of us at work.
Tell us your message when you order and we’ll include it with your tribute.
Sending flowers to the funeral director
We can send your tribute to you or straight to the funeral director. When you order, please give us the funeral date, the venue and the funeral director’s name, and we’ll plan around it. You can also collect from Tuckingmill, Cornwall, by arrangement. As we’re a small workshop, we’re not able to offer visits.
Keeping the flowers afterwards
Because our tributes are made in silk, they don’t wilt. Many families take them home after the service, place them at the grave or keep a single letter as a remembrance. Some churches, cemeteries and crematoria have their own rules on what can be left, so it’s worth checking with your funeral director.
We’re here to help. If you’d rather talk it through, Claire is happy to help you choose.
